Copy Cat DanceMovement5 minCopy the leader's movements to get your body moving and brain working.
Steps
- I'm going to be the leader first. Watch what I do and copy it exactly! Ready? Touch your head, touch your shoulders, clap twice.
- Good! Now faster: touch your knees, spin around, jump once, freeze! Did everyone get that? Let's try again — knees, spin, jump, freeze!
- Now I need a volunteer to be the leader. Everyone else, copy exactly what they do. Leader — show us three moves in a row!
- Great job copying! New leader — pick someone who hasn't gone yet. Show us three brand new moves. Everyone copy!
- Last round — everyone is their own leader. Do your three favorite moves from today. Then freeze in your best silly statue pose. Take a deep breath in your statue pose and sit back down.
Can I Play?Mindfulness5 minPractice saying kind words out loud to build friendship skills.
Steps
- We're going to practice some magic words. Not magic like a wizard — magic because they help you make friends! Ready? Repeat after me: 'Can I play with you?'
- Great! Now let's practice another one. When someone says no, we can say: 'That's okay. Maybe next time!' Say it with me. Big smile. It doesn't feel great when someone says no, but this sentence helps.
- Here's another magic sentence for when you bump into someone or make a mistake: 'I'm sorry. Are you okay?' Say it with me. Look at the person next to you and say it like you mean it.
- One more: when someone does something nice for you, we say 'Thank you! That was really kind.' Practice saying it to the person next to you. Make eye contact!
- You just practiced four sentences that real friends use every single day. 'Can I play?' 'That's okay.' 'I'm sorry, are you okay?' 'Thank you.' Take a breath. You're ready to be an amazing friend today.
